Abstract

Personal archives documenting the career of Brenda H. Burt during her various positions at the University of Texas at Austin. The papers deal with Mrs. Burt's community advocacy with minority groups on campus, particularly Black students. Also found in this collection are extensive media resources related to the history of Black students on campus and their relationship with the UT administration.

Chase Building Archive includes oral histories and print material that recognizes its transformation and restoration into the building that now houses the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Community Engagement.

The UT Black Studies Archive documents the history, administration and activities of the Black Studies department at The University of Texas at Austin. The majority of materials in the collection represent the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies. Established in 1969, the Warfield Center emerged from the university’s Ethnic Studies program and is the founding unit of the department.
