The Delta Xi AKA Oral History Collection includes video interviews, interview transcripts, and images. The collection has two series: Interviews and Digital Archive.
Interviews series contains seven oral history interviews video-recorded via Zoom. Each interview is available to view via UT Libraries Collections, and is linked directly below.
Digital Archive series includes over 40 photographs and images submitted by interviewees. Digital Archive materials are available to view online along with an item level inventory.

Historical Note
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 15, 1908 as the first Black Greek-letter organization. The sorority now has chapters across the globe and a membership of over 300,000 women.
On May 16, 1959, the Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. became the first Black Greek-letter organization at The University of Texas at Austin. Charter members of Delta Xi were among the first African American women admitted to the university. Since the chapter’s founding, Delta Xi members have served both the campus and Austin community by awarding scholarships, offering programs, hosting community service projects, and maintaining a standard for academic excellence.
The Delta Xi AKA Oral History Collection is a collaboration between The Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Black Studies, and the Black Diaspora Archive at The University of Texas at Austin, and is made possible with support from the AKA Scholars Legacy Scholarship.
