Correspondence, creative works, printed material, sound recordings, photographic material, and artifacts reflect the life and work of Américo Paredes (1915-1999). Paredes was a folklorist, teacher, novelist, poet, musician, academic administrator, and Mexican-American activist. Born in Brownsville, Texas, he spent his career at the University of Texas at Austin.

Personal archives documenting the career of Brenda H. Burt during her various positions at the University of Texas at Austin. The papers deal with Mrs. Burt's community advocacy with minority groups on campus, particularly Black students. Also found in this collection are extensive media resources related to the history of Black students on campus and their relationship with the UT administration.

Silk-screen prints, film posters, prints, and other artworks collected or produced by Austin, Texas based artist, Carlos Lowry. Artwork covers topics and events related to U.S. solidarity movements with Latin America and Austin and Texas-based activism for Chicano rights.

Records of the Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) founded in 1970 at The University of Texas at Austin. The collection documents the Center's programming activities (lectures, conferences, and symposia), CMAS publications, and its involvement with the Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR). Records include material from former directors, files on the Hopwood case and Texas' Top 10 Percent law, and audiovisual material documenting the Center's activities.

The Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was the first Black Greek-letter organization established at The University of Texas at Austin. The Delta Xi AKA Oral History Collection includes seven video interviews with Delta Xi members, interview transcripts, and images.

This collection contains materials relating to the work and personal life of E. Victor Niemeyer.

Edmund T. Gordon is an activist, anthropologist, professor, administrator, and founding chair of the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.

The Elgin-Butler Brick Company, with central operations at a 1,000-acre site in Butler, five miles east of Elgin, and sales headquarters in Austin, is a fifth-generation family-owned business that ships bricks nationwide and internationally. The collection contains architectural drawings for projects supplied with brick materials from the Elgin-Butler Brick Company between 1959 and 1980.
