Abstract
In 1995, HHM conducted a reconnaissance-level survey within the San Jacinto Heights and Country Club Addition neighborhoods of Amarillo, Texas. The survey team identified 1,188 properties built by 1945. HHM classified 50 of the properties to be in the HIGH preservation priority category. Of the remaining resources, 318 were recommended to be in the MEDIUM priority category and 820 were in the LOW priority category. As the final phase of a multi-year, multi-phased effort to document historic properties in the city, this project was undertaken for the City of Amarillo Planning Department with Community Development Block Grant monies. As consultant to the City, HHM documented 2,826 properties within all previously unsurveyed areas within the 1997 corporate limits of Amarillo.
