Human Rights Documentation Initiative Collection includes brochures, publications, pamphlets, audio recordings, oral histories and DVDs. The collection has three series: Human Rights Documentation Initiative Ephemera, Paraguayan Radio Transmissions Recordings, and the Chammah and Young Oral History.

The Human Rights Documentation Initiative Ephemeraseries contains is divided into two subseries. One subseries is made up of material from or related to Human Rights Documentation Initiative partners. The second subseries is made up of material collected from non-affiliated human rights groups from all over the world. These subseries include brochures, publications, DVDs, and pamphlets pertaining to human rights.

The Paraguayan Radio Transmissions Recordingsseries contains audio recordings of radio transmissions from the Paraguayan coup or golpe de estado. The files were recorded and grouped together by various Paraguayan radio aficionados who tuned in to police and army wavelengths from February 2nd to February 3rd 1989.

The Chamah and Youngseries contains oral histories on the Jewish community in Syria, specifically the cities of Aleppo and Damascus.

The fourth series,theHRDI Web Archiveincludes websites that have been archived using the Internet Archive’s Archive-It service. A link to the Web Archive is included in the Related Material section and at the inventory level.

Abstract

The Human Rights Documentation Initiative (HRDI) at UT Libraries is committed to the long-term preservation of fragile and vulnerable records of human rights struggles worldwide, the promotion and secure usage of human rights archival materials, and the advancement of human rights research and advocacy around the world. The HRDI Collection contains human rights-related ephemera, harvested internet resources, and audiovisual materials.
