Cuban Exile Materials from the University of Miami's Cuban Heritage Collection
Scope and Contents Note
This collection is a combination of materials including books, magazines, journals, newspapers, bulletins, pamphlets, and other printed materials ranging from 1940 to 2015. There are examples of important and relatively unique materials produced by Cuban exiles, expatriates, and Cuban-Americans. The majority of the materials are from post-revolution Cuba and published in the United States.
Much of the material consists of arts subjects such as music, plays, novels, poetry, and stories. It also contains historical material such as biographies, histories, essays, interviews, and speeches. The magazines, journals, newspapers, and bulletins range mostly from the 1960s to the 1980s. The collection also includes bulletins, pamphlets, and other material published by the Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil (DRE), a Cuban student group in opposition to Fidel Castro.
Overall, the materials are in relatively good shape. The items in boxes 1-2 are arranged in alphabetical order by author name in each sub-series. The items in Box 3 are arranged in alphabetical order by title in each sub-series.
