Abstract Architect Alfred Giles (1853-1920) was born in London and emigrated to the United States, starting his own practice in San Antonio in 1876. He opened a branch office in Monterrey, Mexico and extended into Northern Mexico, while maintaining his practice in Texas. Giles is known for his designs of county courthouses, public buildings, and private residences he designed in central Texas and Mexico.
