It contains extensive biographical, topical, and audio-visual materials collected during the research and writing of the book, correspondence and documentation of Acosta and Winegarten's collaboration and writing process, and materials related to the publication of the book.

Colleagues Buie Harwood and Anna Brightman were University of Texas at Austin faculty, researchers, and expert consultants in historic interior design. The collection focuses on Harwood’s research in interior decorative painting and Brightman’s restoration of the Winedale Historic Site in Round Top, Texas.
