Albert J. Schmidt Collection of Lantern Slides
Scope and Contents Note
593 lantern slides, circa 1904-1921. The collection is housed in two records storage boxes with lantern slide boxes 1-7 being housed in Box 1 and lantern slide boxes 8-14 being housed in Box 2. Subjects include: Art reproductions of Mexican codices, Aztec cultural artifacts, and images of the conquest of Mexico; views of monuments, sites, and scenes in Mexico City, the Distrito Federal, Mexico state, and other Mexican cities and states. Many reproductions are of items in the National Museum of Mexico. Most other slides are commercial travel views of street scenes, people, buildings, and social life and customs in Mexico, including bullfights, plantations, and other representative Mexican scenes. Additionally, there are 8 slides from during the Mexican Revolution. Photographed by C. B. Waite (Mexico City), W. H. Horne (El Paso, Texas), and unidentified photographers.
