00:40 Maria was born and grew up here in East LA in a family of 12 siblings. Maria's parents worked at anything that would support a large family from making tortillas to going up north to pick crops.

08:10 Maria's siblings got in trouble for throwing her and her younger brother out of the house to fend for themselves on the street every day.
