Across the Plains of Goajira by Motor Car by Edward B. Dana, January 1, 1930

Photograph album containing 140 black-and-white photographs showing Edward Dana's car tour of the Goajira peninsula in both Colombia and Venezuela. All the photographs include typescript captions which detail the specifics of every photograph and contextualize the Goajira Peninsula and the Goajira indigenous groups within the fabric of Colombia and Venezuela. The photographs document the natural landscapes of the region including the Canal of Garabuy, La Teta mountain, and the plains of Goajira. Dana photographed many indigenous people living in this region including within the floating village of La Boca, the plains of Goajira and the indigenous groups that had moved to the city of Maracaibo. Dana includes commentary on indigenous traits and daily routines, describing indigenous groups in the Goajira plains as well as the urban groups in Maracaibo.
