Traveling Venezuela, 1928-1930

Photograph album containing 200 black-and-white photographs documenting Edward Dana's travels in Venezuela between the years 1928 and 1930. Many photographs show street life of villages and cities near Maracaibo and generally speaking those in northwest Venezuela.

Dana's travels took him throughout Venezuela. Many cities and places are documented in the photograph album including Maracaibo, Paraguaipoa army outpost, Barcelona, Caracas, Colón, Betijoque, Valencia, Barquisimieto, San Cristobal, Valera, Mérida, Mucuchíes, Escuque, Yariba, Tachira, Tovar, Trujillo, Puerto Cabello, and Lagunillas.

The Trans-Andean Highway and other roadways are featured throughout. The landscape and daily life of Venezuela are documented including the Andes Mountains, Lake Maraicabo, Laguna de Sinamaica, coffee making, churches, chapels, farming, railroads, and railroad stations. Also included are scenes from the oil industry including of derricks and oil fires.
