B3b: When Buildings Speak (WBS), 1908-2013, undated

The When Buildings Speak (WBS) sub-subseries contains analog and born-digital records produced and collected by Alofsin for his 2006 book When Buildings Speak: Architecture as Language in the Habsburg Empire and Its Aftermath, 1867-1933 published by the University of Chicago Press. A German edition of the book, Architektur bei Wort nehmen: Die Sprache der Baukunst im Habsburgerreich und in seinen Nachfolgestaaten, 1867-1933, was published in 2011 by Verlag Anton Pustet.

Records include accumulated research, correspondence, photographic materials, and draft manuscripts of WBS in English and German. Earlier drafts of the work were titled Limits of the Sayable. Hans Engels and Masaaki Sekiya were photographers for the book, and their work is included in this subseries. Original arrangement of the materials is retained.
