Project# 0440 Historical Building Documentation, T. U. Taylor Hall of Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin, TX, 2010

HHM documented Taylor Hall at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) to Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) Level II standards in order to mitigate the demolition of the building per consultations with the Texas Historical Commission (THC) under provisions of the Antiquities Code of Texas. An HHM architectural historian conducted archival research at several local repositories consulting original architectural schemes, drawings, and building specifications as well as building specifications for alterations to Taylor Hall; records of the Faculty Building Committee; various UT publications; and meeting minutes of the University’s Board of Regents. The research was gathered and compiled for completion of detailed historical and architectural narrative descriptions. Project historians also took digital and large-format exterior photographs documenting the current state of Taylor Hall to HABS Level II standards. The compiled documentation was submitted to the client’s project administrators and accepted by THC.
