Project# 0089.040 Historic Resources Survey of Central Business District of Henderson, TX, 1988 - 1990

In support of the City’s participation in the Main Street Program, HHM completed a historic resources survey of the central business district in Henderson, Texas. HHM documented 108 pre-1945 historic resources in the downtown area. The survey report classified these resources into HIGH, MEDIUM, and LOW preservation priority categories and identified 18 resources in the HIGH preservation priority category. The report noted a high concentration of historic commercial buildings in the downtown but recommended that the area was not eligible for NRHP as a historic district because of the combined effect of alterations to the downtown’s overall historic character.
