The Hugh McMath papers include textual and photographic material primarily documenting his 44-year teaching career in the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin. He held a deep interest in the art and architecture of Mexico and developed courses in pre-Hispanic and Colonial architecture of Mexico and published several monographs on the subject. Record types include photographs, correspondence, student work, writings, and faculty papers.

Joel Warren Barna served as editor of Texas Architect magazine, the official publication of the Texas Society of Architects, from 1985-1995. The collection reflects the research and writing of Joel Warren Barna's 1992 award winning book, The see-through years: Creation and destruction in Texas architecture and real estate, 1981-1991. Documents include manuscript drafts, proofs, correspondence, research files, papers, photographs, and slides.

Lucy T. Shoe Meritt began her career as a student, teacher, and scholar of classical archaeology and architecture in 1915. The collection consists of documents reflecting her many publications (at different stages of publication), drawings separate from publications, correspondence, personal papers, photographic material (including slides) separate from publications, oral history audiocassettes, and miscellaneous other material.

Photographs and slides document Mexican American barrios, civil rights activities, including the Texas Farmworkers' march of 1977 and the East Austin Boat Race controversy, and Chicano arts and artists.

This collection documents María Elena Martínez's involvement in Mexican American politics and culture, bilingual education, Chicano studies, and indigenous organizations. It also documents her interest in the politics of Central American countries and Cuba.

Philip Douglas Creer (1903-1993), educated in Pennsylvania, was head of the Department of Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design for twenty-three years before serving as dean of the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin from 1956 to 1967. The collection contains Creer’s personal, professional, and faculty papers. Record types include architectural drawings, photographs, correspondence, and project records.

Richard Louis Cleary (1951-) is an architectural historian known for his work on Frank Lloyd Wright and French architecture from the ancien régime. The collection contains papers created during his academic career. Record types include notes, drafts, reference materials, course materials, media, photos, and slides.

Robert James Coote was an emeritus University of Texas professor of architecture and architectural history, author, artist, and a prominent architect and designer of residential homes in the Austin, Texas area. The collection consists of papers, architectural drawings, paintings, photographs, 35 mm slides, and computer disks that document his work as an architect, author, educator, and artist.
