Abstract

Ford, Powell & Carson is an architecture, urban planning, and historic preservation firm based in San Antonio, Texas. This collection contains project files, office records, and drawings related to work undertaken by the firm since 1967, as well as some material from the firm’s predecessor, O’Neil Ford & Associates before 1967. Record types include architectural drawings, project files, sketches, reports, master plans, office records, audiovisual material, and publications.

Abstract Papers, drawings, slides and photographs reveal the over half-century career of H. Dan Heyn, landscape architect, whose promotion of native Texas plants and settings helped spur the movement toward indigenous horticulture in the state. The bulk of the collection consists of drawings, job files, and photographic material which encompass residential, commercial, and institutional projects, mainly in Texas. Harvey Partridge Smith (1889-1964) was a San Antonio architect and early preservationist. The collection consists of measured drawings and field notes documenting Smith's work on Spanish missions in San Antonio.
