African diaspora--Study and teaching

Edmund T. Gordon is an activist, anthropologist, professor, administrator, and founding chair of the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.

The UT Black Studies Archive documents the history, administration and activities of the Black Studies department at The University of Texas at Austin. The majority of materials in the collection represent the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies. Established in 1969, the Warfield Center emerged from the university’s Ethnic Studies program and is the founding unit of the department.
