Gacaca Court Proceedings

The Rwandan government established the Gacaca Court in 2001 in order to expedite rulings in cases of war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed during the Rwandan Genocide. The court, a local component of national truth and reconciliation efforts, is inspired by the legacy of community Gacaca courts that would traditionally settle familial and village disputes. These recordings of Gacaca court proceedings are in Kinyarwanda; some have English subtitles or English translations.
