Associação Movimento de Mulheres do Jardim Comercial Artist Book Collection

The Associação Movimento de Mulheres do Jardim Comercial was founded in 1985 by two public school teachers, Mirtes and Marly, who saw that the mothers of their students had little support, affecting the ability of children to learn. Focused on women living in precarious circumstances in the Jardim Comercial neighborhood of the southern region of São Paulo, the organization focused on creating training and income-generating opportunities for women in Jardim Comercial.

As of 2026, the organization trains and supports women in areas including painting on tea towels, crochet, knitting, embroidery, and cooking. This includes the Saberes no Pano brand, created in 2017, that sells embroidered games and books for children. All products in the Saberes no Pano line are created by women who reside in the Jardim Comercial neighborhood using fabric donated by textile companies.
