Arturo Taracena Flores Collection

The collection consists of broadsides and circulars, printed materials, government decrees, photographs, and newsclippings collected by Guatemalan bibliophile Arturo Taracena Flores. The collection is arranged into five serious: Chronological, Alphabetical, Newsclippings, Photographs and Prints, and Oversize Materials.

Materials in the first series, Chronological, are arranged by year or several years. Within each set of years the materials are grouped by type in the following formats: Broadsides and Circluars, Campaign Bills, Decrees, and Miscellanea.

Series two, Alphabetical, includes mostly printed materials arranged alphabetically by subject, person, event, or organization. There are a number of materials printed by our about various Guatemalan political and religious figures and events as well as a large amount put out by the Sindicato de Acción y Mejoramiento Ferrocarrilero (SAMF) in the 1940s and 1950s.

Newsclippings, series three, contains various newspaper and magazine article clippings arranged chronologically.

The fourth series, Photographs and Prints, consists of mainly portraits of individuals and scenes of places in Guatemala and other Latin American countries. These materials are arranged alphabetically by person, place, or subject.

Series five, Oversize Materials, contains large format items that were separated from the other series and are arranged by size and then format or subject. There are broadsides and circulars, decrees, campaign materials, various printed materials, and newsclippings.
