Scope and Contents Note
The Roberto G. Garza LULAC Papers include records from the League of United Latin American Citizens between the 1950s and the 1990s. Records include correspondence, meeting minutes, official publications, posters, collected publications and pins.
The Administrative Records series includes meeting minutes from the different councils Roberto G. Garza was involved with, chronological records which include correspondence, notes, memos, and announcements, and lastly the assorted files which include material about specific topics such as the Latino Learning Center.
The Publications series includes collected publications as well as LULAC pulications such as LULAC Today and El Grito de LULAC.
The Events series includes programs from LULAC conventions at the national, state, and district level. It also includes material from other events organized by LULAC and divided by state.
The Artifacts and Oversize series contains LULAC pins as well as posters and a poem written by Roberto G. Garza printed on a poster.

Biographical Sketch
A longtime member of LULAC, Roberto G. Garza was President of LULAC Council 659, President of LULAC Council 688, Vice President of LULAC Council 402, LULAC District 8 Director, and District 8 Public Relations/Reporter for LULAC News.
Roberto G. Garza was born in 1943 in Kingsville, Texas. In 1956 his family moved to Houston, Texas and in 1960 he joined the U.S Navy where he served in Cuba and Vietnam. After his military service, Roberto G. Garza began his political and activist life in Houston. Shortly after 1965, Garza started his own company, Garza Printing Company and was Department Head and Professor for the Graphic Arts department at Houston Community College. In addition to teaching, Garza established a scholarship program, served on the Houston ISD Board of Directors, LULAC Educational Center and Houston Residents Citizens Participation Committee Development.
His awards include the National LULAC Aztec Civil Rights Award, LULAC Man of the Year, The Benjamin Franklin Award, and numerous U.S Navy medals and awards.
