E.E. Hernández and Petra Paredes Hernández Family Papers
Scope and Contents Note
The E.E. Hernández Family Papers is organized into four series: 1) Correspondence, 2) Personal Records, 3) Printed Materials, and 4) Oversize Material.
Correspondence contains letters and other mail between José and María Hernández, E.E. and Petra Hernández, and other family members. There is a large amount of correspondence between José and María Hernández, which has its own subseries containing correspondence from both 1943 and 1944. All correspondence in this series is in chronological order.
Personal Records include financial, work, and medical documents from the Hernández family. In addition, there are nine folders containing photographs from the family.
Printed Materials include genealogy notes by Dr. Marie-Theresa Hernández, postcards, various identification cards, and more. The materials in this series were collected by E.E., Petra, José, and Jesús Hernández.
Oversize Material includes two large pictures/portraits of members of the Hernández/Paredes family, a drawing of a peacock from an unknown source, and a religious print.

Biographical Note
Eugenio Esquivel (E.E.) Hernández, originally from Coahuila, Mexico, married Petra Paredes in 1922. The couple settled and raised their children, María de la Luz and Jesús Eugenio, in Laredo, Texas. E.E. Hernández worked as an animal trapper and was a veteran of World War I. E.E. Hernández and Petra Paredes Hernández's son Jesús and son-in-law José Felipe Hernández were both veterans of World War II.
