Scope and Contents Note
Two bound volumes of land titles and testimonies, financial documents, letters and other materials related to ownership of the Hacienda del Torreon in Durango, Mexico from the 16th to the 19th centuries. The first volume contains several leaves with decorative paleography, including leaf 21 of section 4, the title page of section 6 which also has ornate borders, and both title pages of section 7. The second volume contains many 17th century title documents concerning the Hacienda and Estancia in Torreon.

Historical Note
The Hacienda del Torreon in Durango, Mexico, passed through several hands, including the de Molinas family, from the late 16th century through the early 18th century. The land was inherited by the de Voarte family in 1722. Most of the collection concerns the title and transfer of the land during a crucial period after the death of Juan Angel de Voarte when his widow, Anna Josepha de Velasco, stood to inherit it in the 1740s and early 1750s.
