Born Digital Records, 1999-2006
Scope and Contents
This series contains the born-digital records held in this collection and includes 1,116 digital files (258 megabytes). Included in this series are electronic correspondences (.eml and.txt), manuscript drafts and notes (.doc,.txt,.rtf and .wpd), spreadsheets (.xls), photographs (.jpg and.tif), newsletters and articles (.pdf and.tif). Files are grouped by their corresponding disk image identifier and retain the original file structure that can be found in their original floppy disk. Dates for born-digital files were determined by when they were last modified. The title for each file group reflects the original inscription found on the corresponding floppy disks and compact disks (CDs) or derived from the digital items.

Conditions Governing Access
Access to the disk images and master files from this collection is restricted and access files have been produced to facilitate access in the reading room.
Processing Information
The floppy disks in this collection were surveyed in a closed environment with the use of write-blockers. FTK Imager was used to create disk images of accessible floppy disks. Autopsy was to mount the disk images and identify potential personal identifiable information (PII). FTK Imager was used to extract the files and Microsoft Defender was used to virus check files. Files containing student grades and papers and those containing program files were identified and removed. For access copies, all text-based files were converted to PDFs.
