Caridad Blanco Collection of Cuban Comic Books / Historietas Cubanas

This collection is a combination of stand-alone comics and newspaper supplements consisting of over 700 pieces ranging from 1937 to 2018. There are examples of important and relatively unique materials from Cuban comic history from the 1930's on, though the majority of the materials are from post-revolution Cuba. Some of the more frequent and well-known titles include ¡Aventuras!, Bijirita, C-Línea, Zunzún, Dedeté, Mella, Muñe, Pionero, Pásalo, and Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios Sobre la Historieta. The oldest title in the collection is Diario de la Marina, the copies of this title ranging from 1937 to 1939.

Overall, the materials are in relatively good shape, though the oldest items have discoloration and are flaking and torn common to materials of that age from Cuba, especially the newspaper examples. There are some items that are not complete and have been marked as such. The items in boxes 1-9 are arranged in alphabetical order by title. The items that are considered oversized (boxes 10-13) are alphabetical starting from Box 10.

This collection also contains a sizable amount of digital files in relation to Caridad Blanco's exhibition work ranging from 1991-2018. The digital collection includes catalogs, advertisements, articles, reviews, research materials, presentation text, exhibition images, photography, audio clips, digital video clips, and flash animation.
