Dan Dickey Music Collection

The Dan Dickey Collection consists of sound recordings of and about a variety of Mexican, Latin American, and Tejano music. Recordings of performances by Tejano musicians and corridistas, as well as interviews with both are well represented in the collection, including interviews on the migrant corridos project. Also included are interviews and performances of corridos specifically related to the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. In addition, the collection includes sound recordings from National Public Radio and a collection titled Musica Mexicana. The collection also includes 186 sound recordings of mainly Mexican popular music, with some Argentine, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and United States artists represented, as well as a card catalog of Mexican music from that collection. Reel-to-reel audio, cassette tapes, 45 rpm records, and 8-track tapes are all included in this collection. Also present are written materials related to Dickey's research on the Kennedy corridos and his book on the topic, including correspondence, notes and interviews, and his master’s thesis.

The collection is organized in two series: Audiovisual Materials and Kennedy Corridos Materials. Audiovisual materials are arranged chronologically by format.
