Statement of purpose from the 1991 March Volume II, Issue #1. Tejas is a quarterly publication of J352/MAS 379: Latino Community News, a course taken for credit in Journalism or Mexican American Studies. Tejas seeks to encourage Latino and other student interest in minority community news and opinion, and to attract students to the journalism profession. By providing students an opportunity to acquire clips and practical experience, Tejas prepares students to apply for internships, scholarships, grants and jobs.
