Emma E. de Gutiérrez Súarez

Elected in the Mexico City Convention (1962), reelected in the Lima, Peru Convention (1964); served 1962-1966.

A member of the Pan American Round Table of Mexico City. Gutierrez Suarez served in different Alliance positions including Historian (1953-1955); Director General for two terms (1962-1966); Alliance Official Translator (1968-1970) and Parliamentarian (circa 1970-1976, 1978-1980, 1984-1986). After serving as Director General, Mrs. Gutierrez Suarez along with other Ex Director Generals served in a special committee (Comité Consultivo) to advice subsequent Director Generals.

Gutierrez Suarez was the first Pan American Woman of the year (1967) and authored theManual de Socias, a member's manual written in 1966. After her tenure as Director General, Gutierrez Suarez increased her involvement with the national association of Mexico (continued being an active member of the Mexico City PART). She served on the Consejo Consultivo (an advisory committee) as a lifetime member (Consejera Vitalicia).

Gutierrez Suarez worked professionally as a translator and interpreter. She died November 16, 1990.
