Segment #1 POST RAID MISSISSIPPI

Late August in Laurel, Mississippi... after the nightshift ended, federal agents poured into the Howard Industries factory. Hundreds of men and women were handcuffed, questioned and arrested at their workplace...then led out of the gates of the factory that makes electronics. Nearly 600 workers were gathered up in the biggest workforce raid in us history...one of several this year by the immigrations and customs enforcement agency. And while you might think that those undocumented workers were immediately deported to their countries, the reality, just like the immigration system, is much more complicated. To date, about 100 of the workers have been sent home and some 300 remain in prisons scattered throughout the Gulf Coast. More than 100 were released with electronic bracelets on their ankles. Andrew Stelzer went to Laurel, Mississippi, for Latino USA and found a fragmented community, unsure what the future might hold. (0:00)
