Segment #2 PORT POLLUTION

The election of Barack Obama has raised one significant question that has no easy answer...is racism over' Clearly the effects of racism can still be found in communities across the country...be it in access to education, to health care, or even to clean air. One area that is particularly polluted can be found near the ports of the city of Los Angeles...emissions from thousands of ships, diesel trucks and locomotives cause asthma, coronary diseases and cancer in these large Latino communities. Recently the port authorities implemented a new clean air action plan, that in just five years will cut emissions in half, but as Claes Andreasson reports, residents remain wary. (0:00)
