Segment #2: NEW ORLEANS SPANISH RADIO

After hurricanes devastated Central America in the 1990s, many immigrants wound up in New Orleans, home to a Honduran population of over one hundred and twenty thousand before Hurricane Katrina. But as a percentage of the overall population, New Orleans had a relatively small Hispanic community, despite its rich Spanish heritage. The city did, however, have two Spanish-language radio stations. As Latino workers continue to pour in to rebuild the city, the two stations are now finding the need to fill the airwaves with more than just music. Nick Miroff reports. (2:57)
