Segment #1: KATRINA WORKERS

The destruction brought to the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina cannot be avoided. The bloated bodies of dead animals coming to sight. Tent cities have popped-up all over to give shelter for the displaced and for workers. The task of digging out has become the center of controversy as it's become clear that it's being done more and more by Latinos. In recent weeks, Federal Immigration agents have launched raids on military basis alone the Gulf Coast, apprehending workers who could not produce documentation proving they were able to work legally in this country. The basis on the coasts of Mississippi and Louisiana have been the center of controversy concerning labor practices by their contractors, reports of worker abuse, and complaints from union workers who say they were kicked off jobsites so contractors could pay lower wages to Latino workers. Latino USA's Michelle Garcia brings us the story from the Gulf Coast. (10:39)
