Recently, several members of Congress visited the war torn region of Afghanistan to get a firsthand look at the military operation there and to judge the effectiveness of U.S. policy for the region. U.S. representative Silvestre Reyes, a Democrat from Texas, was part of that delegation he joins us now from his Washington, DC office.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that undocumented immigrants cannot sue employers for back pay, for unlawful termination. The court wrote that undocumented immigrants don't have that right, because they don't have the right to be working in this country. The 5-4 ruling was applauded by anti-immigrant groups and blasted by immigration advocates and labor unions. In the first of two stories Latino USA's Patricia Guadalupe reports on how Washington, DC based advocacy groups are now focusing on legislation in response to the Supreme Court decision.

The Supreme Court's ruling in the case known as Hoffman plastic vs. National Labor Relations Board is widely viewed as a severe setback to labor unions trying to organize undocumented workers. From San Francisco, NPR's Richard Gonzales picks up the story.

So, it's here. A prime time sitcom, on mainstream television, that features, exclusively, Latinos. It's the 'George Lopez Show' on the ABC network and it stars of course, the comic George Lopez. Created as mid'season replacement, the 'George Lopez Show' now airs Wednesday evenings and has so far received mostly favorable reviews. George Lopez joins us from LA.

She was known simply as La Doña. There are many adjectives that could describe Maria Félix, proud, intelligent, beautiful, arrogant, talented, and vain. In her lifetime she married some of Mexico's most famous men of the twentieth century, including the great mariachi singer Jorge Negrete, whose widow she became, and legendary composer Agustin Lara, who wrote his famous song 'Maria Bonita,' Beautiful Maria, in her honor. In Mexico City, Maria Félix died on April 8, which was also her 88th birthday. An entire nation gathered to bid farewell to this giant of Spanish language cinema.
