Series III: Print Material, 1949-2022

The Chase Building has served many different purposes during its life and this series represents the fruits of its labor. The Center for Community Engagement recovered these materials when it moved into the Chase Building in August of 2022. The Colored Teachers State Association of Texas, also known as the Teachers State Association of Texas, published a periodical known as the Texas Standard. The Miss Black Austin Beauty Pageant was a social event run by Ella Mae Pease. Entities like these stand testaments for the Chase Building’s activities within the community.
