Manuscripts and sketches by Tejanos, 1930s, undated

Several manuscripts (poetry) and sketches by Tejanos in New Braunfels and the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. Identified documents include works by: Josefina Fraga (New Braunfels, Texas), 1933 November, 1934-1936; Maria Delgado; Maria Josefa Delgado (Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico), 1932 May 26. Several items signed by N.B.T. Some documents lack author attribution. A 1931 draft letter from Julian Delgado, father of Maria Delgado, to a man in San Antonio about a final payment mentions that Maria purchased a Gulbransen pianola and the ownership papers should list her name instead of his name. The documents are mainly in Spanish with some English.

Also included are several sketches, both attributed and un-attributed. Several sketches signed by M.D. and possibly refer to Maria Delgado. The sketches include images of women, couples, babies/children, and Texas locations such as a postal office building in San Antonio (located at Dwyer avenue in 1844) and a drawing of two trains traveling between New Braunfels and San Antonio appear to show segregation. One train is headed towards a terminal for whites and the other train is headed to a terminal for blacks.
