Writes that a cowboy from Palan came that afternoon and reported that the night of 25th the Indians had set fire to three huts of the ranch, (the families fortunately escaped) and the next day had stolen a herd and carried off other animals; he has no word from Bernardino who went out to see about the slain, 1817, March 28:
