Scope and Content of the collection
Duke Squibb is a 1956 graduate of the University of Texas School of Architecture and a Taliesin Fellow. His collection contains primarily material on Frank Lloyd Wright and Taliesin, including books, bound journals, clippings, brochures, postcards, vinyl recordings, photographs and slides. Also included are papers Squibb wrote for a class taught by the British architect and writer Colin Rowe.

Biographical Sketch of Edward Duke Squibb
Duke Squibb is a 1956 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture and a Taliesin Fellow. He was born in Detroit in 1935, although both his parents were from the Dallas area. When Squibb was 5 years old, his father was transferred back to Dallas, Texas. Squibb attended grammar school in Garland, Texas and graduated from Garland High School at age 16. From 1951 to 1952 he attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas studying Management Engineering. He left SMU to study architecture at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1956. After graduation from The University of Texas and working in Austin, he joined the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Taliesin fellowship from 1959 to 1961. While studying at Taliesin West (Scottsdale, Arizona) and Taliesin (Spring Green, Wisconsin), he performed various duties cooking, gardening, and landscape and garden construction. At the end of his 2 1/2 years as a student at Taliesin, Squibb returned to Texas and worked in Austin and Dallas for private architectural firms for 19 years. In these early years he worked as a field inspector for Austin architect Eugene Wukash. He worked 32 years for the state of Texas in the departments of Parks and Wildlife and Health (Longtime Care). While working for Texas Parks and Wildlife in the late 1960s he was restoration architect for Fort Leaton State Historic site in Presidio County. He retired from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services in January 2006 after serving for many years as a consultant, field inspector and program manager for Longtime Care.
