Project# 0110.01 Chestnut Neighborhood Historic Resources Survey, Austin, TX, 2000 - 2001

The Chestnut Neighborhood Historic Resources Survey is a comprehensive inventory of historic properties in one of the older neighborhoods in East Austin. Undertaken under the auspices of the City of Austin Historic Preservation Office and pursuant to the Chestnut Neighborhood Plan, the project is part of the City’s renewed efforts to catalogue, document, and evaluate the city’s historical and architectural heritage. The Chestnut Neighborhood Historic Resources Survey is a preservation planning tool, which enables the City to know where significant historic properties exist, and helps local residents understand the rich heritage and architecture of their neighborhood. HHM identified a total of 422 properties, 28 of which were classified in the HIGH preservation priority category are considered potentially eligible for listing in the NRHP. The project was completed in 13 months.
