Project# 0994.01.01 Cultural Resources Survey, Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant Dallas, TX, 1998 - 2002

In 1998, HHM conducted an intensive cultural resources survey and National Register of Historic Places assessment of Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant (NWIRP) Dallas, Texas. HHM, following the procedures outlined in the Secretary of the Interior's "Guidelines for Local Surveys: A Basis for Preservation Planning", began this project by conducting an intensive field investigation of all extant resources within the NWIRP Dallas project area, recording each building's property type, age, and physical characteristics; assessing the overall condition of the resources; plotting resource locations on a map; photographing all resources ; and recording detailed information about the physical characteristics and attributes of all resources. HHM then gathered historical data on the development of NWIRP Dallas from repositories of information both on and off site, HHM completed Texas SHPO survey forms and support documentation for all recorded NWIRP Dallas properties. Finally, HHM prepared a report that summarized the project and presented the major finding s and recommendations. HHM found that, of the 130 properties surveyed, three were recommended to be NRHP eligible under Criteria A.
