Project# 0096.010 Cultural Resources Survey of Naval Reserve Centers, Phase 3: Area of Responsibility of Southwest Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, 1996 - 1998

HHM compiled historical and architectural documentation on Naval Reserve Centers (NRCs) erected before 1980 in compliance with sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The third and final phase included 24 NRCs in 11 states and Puerto Rico in EFD Southwest, EFA West, and EFA Northwest. Field tasks included gathering historical and architectural information at each activity and at local repositories; photographing, noting the significant architectural features, and analyzing the physical integrity of each extant resource; and gathering information at Navy repositories. A report was prepared for each center that included a history, an architectural description, and an evaluation of NRHP significance. Materials were submitted to and approved by all State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs). Work was completed within the allotted time and there were no change orders for this project.
