Project# 0084.030 Historic Resources Survey and National Register Multiple-Resource Nomination of Georgetown, TX, 1983 - 1984

HHM conducted a two-phase study of historic resources in Georgetown, Texas. During the initial phase, HHM completed a comprehensive survey of all pre-1935 historic resources within the city limits and ETJ of Georgetown. HHM also oversaw limited archaeological investigations of a large tract of land immediately east of IH 35 that was likely to be developed for commercial purposes. The historic resources survey identified and documented 902 buildings, structures, and objects and classified them into HIGH, MEDIUM, and LOW preservation categories. For the second phase of the project, HHM prepared a multi-resource National Register nomination, which led to the listing of 53 individual properties in the NRHP, as well as the designation of the Belford Historic District and the expansion of the Williamson County Courthouse Historic District, both of which included a combined total of 74 contributing properties.
